GENERAL INFORMATION

LKL have contracts with farmers to staff dairy farms all over the U.K. In each case LKL have an agreement for services with a subcontracted herdsperson. Each farm is looked after by an LKL regional manager who will ensure that conditions are to the farmers and herdspersons satisfaction and deal with any problems which may arise.

All LKL Sub-contractors enjoy the advantages of working under the LKL umbrella. Sub Contractors are self employed and benefit from tax savings, insurance against Public liability, claims, optional sickness and accident cover, subsidised farm clothing, a monthly newsletter, and the knowledge that LKL have been in business for almost 50 years providing security for sub-contractors.

The average length of time sub contract herdspersons are on one farm is some 7 years (industry average 4 years ) with many of our herdspersons working through to retirement.

Each contract is set out to suit the individual farmers requirements. This means that some will cover say 295 days with 70 days holiday. In other instances the contract will be for 365 days which means that the herdsperson is "paid sufficiently to cover their own relief" This gives flexibility to organise time off with locally approved relief or through LKL as required.

Each farm is thoroughly inspected before LKL agree contract terms with the Farmer. With support from your LKL Regional Manager who will visit regularly (and who is always only a phone call away) and training, our contracts and herdsmen are highly regarded in the industry. High standards and the necessary skills for efficient modern milk production and herd management are sought after and LKL is the market leader in the dairy industry staffing sector.

If you wish to speak to existing LKL subcontractors or an experienced accountant regarding any aspect of the LKL Service or being self employed please ask the office for contact numbers.
