Grass Based System - Spring and Autumn Calving

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to become part of a progressive spring and autumn block calving herd of mainly Friesian x Jersey cows in rural Staffordshire.

Job Skills

We require a very enthusiastic and versatile individual to help with the everyday tasks around the farm including milking, young stock work, feeding, bedding, and supporting pasture management.

The successful candidate will be a very enthusiastic person who has high standards in whatever they do. Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage but not paramount. More important characteristics are a passion for dairy farming, work ethic and the ability to work as part of a team.

Job Description

The herd is milked through a 30/60 parlour; grazed for as long as the weather dictates. The spring block are out wintered on beet with the autumn herd housed and fed a mix of silage, lifted beet and blend. Cows are corn fed in the parlour using flat rate feeders. Grass measuring takes place on a weekly basis. All data is inputted onto software (AgriNet) to give a grass wedge.
