Herdsperson-Shropshire-800 cows-BFweb2003, Shropshire
We require an enthusiastic and versatile individual to take an active role in the success of our client’s superb unit situated in the dairy heartland.
Key responsibilities including leading the milking team, herd health and vet routines, record keeping, feet and mobility, and generally working closely with the owners to run the cows.
The owners are flexible and are happy to look at candidates who are an experienced herdsperson/stockperson and those with less experience who are looking for the next challenge in their career.
We are looking for someone with attention to detail, flexibility, ability to think for yourself and also work well as part of a team. It is also vital that you have good communication skills.
The herd of commercial Holsteins average around 11,000 litres per lactation, with superb fertility and health status. This really is a fantastic opportunity for the right person.
This is a 450 acre farm with additional rented land with excellent housing and a 36 point rotary parlour. The cows are fed a TMR ration and achieve circa 11,000 litres. Staff retention is first class with many of the staff working on the farm for many years.
In return for your efforts we offer a highly competitive salary with bonus scheme and regular time off. The local market town of Newport is 4 miles away with a wide choice of houses for rent or to purchase, both in the town and rurally, offering good schools and amenities, the cost of which will be reflected in the salary offered.
