We require an enthusiastic, versatile and experienced individual to take an active role in the success of a superb pedigree herd achieving 12,600 litres per cow!
We are looking to recruit an individual who will work in a senior role and work closely with the herd manager, but who will also be hands on and a key part of the milking team. The person will need to be experienced but also versatile and have good communication skills with excellent attention to detail. Key responsibilities of the role will be milking, herd health management, record keeping, and management of parlour and yard staff when the herd manager is off.
This is a 400 acre farm situated in beautiful countryside, yet being close to the motorway and rail networks. The farm is predominately down to grass, whole crop wheat and maize, and whilst being intensive the owners have a keen interest in conservation and wildlife with a stunning bluebell wood being present on the farm.
The cows are fed a full TMR diet with A.I and foot trimming outsourced so that as much attention to detail can be given to the herd on a daily basis, in order to maintain the superb welfare of the stock.

Location: The farm is located approximately 10 miles from Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, being centrally located allows for excellent access to the motorway and train networks, whilst being in a stunning part of the country. The accommodation is in a nearby, highly sought-after village.
The Farm and herd: The farm extends to 400 acres carrying circa 360 Holstein cows. The farm is predominantly down to grass with wheat (wholecrop) and maize grown to support the feed ration. The farm has extended cow accommodation and is currently in the process of expanding to 400 cows using home bred heifers.
This is a truly excellent herd, milked three times per day. The cows are currently achieving an average of 12,600 litres at 950 kg solids. This is achieved through a TMR feed with cows housed all year around. During the summer months the dry cows do go out to graze. This is a level profile herd with cows calving all year around. The farm is a co-operative member of Arla and a TSDG member supplying Tesco.
Genus RMS currently take responsibility for the majority of AI work with a contract foot trimmer being used to complete routine foot care. Emergency and remedial foot trimming is carried out in house.
The cows are cubicle housed all year on sand with a sand yard for fresh and sick cows.
Nutrition is a full TMR which includes silage, maize, protein blend, soya, bread, soda wheat, Trafford Gold, fats, minerals and molasses.

The Role: This is a hands-on herdspersons role. You will work closely with the experienced herd manager and whilst being an important member of the milking and scraping team, you will be in a position of responsibility, assisting the senior team and also taking leadership of the team when the herd manager is off.

• Milking and scraping
• Management of parlour and yard staff where necessary
• Herd Health management
• Record keeping
• Working closely with the farmers and herd manager.
The Person: We require a skilled and experienced herdsman who has had a similar position in the past, or someone who has the ambition to grow into the role with good dairy experience looking to progress their career.
Attention to detail, flexibility, ability to think for themselves and also work well as part of a team are key attributes for this role, as well as having good communication skills and high welfare standards.
