We have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic operator with a good foundation of experience to join a team working with high performing pedigree cows in truly first class facilities.
With the unit running at a capacity of 240 cows plus followers and a loyal team member moving on; we seek a stock enthusiast to work with all youngstock/followers and provide all mechanised feeding on the unit. Yields are in the region of 10,000 litres per cow, the herd is calving mainly late summer/winter and milked twice a day.
Exemplary levels of welfare and production are catered for in facilities including a fully computerised 24 X 24 parlour incorporating auto dipping and flushing, activity meters, auto ID and shedding. The herd are housed in deep sand cubicles within an umbrella style brand new building.
The cows and followers are fed a TMR ration from excellent facilities and with modern equipment on this well mechanised unit.
The successful applicant will be offered an excellent 3-bed character cottage on the farm, close to a full range of amenities in a very picturesque village within a very sought after part of the county, along with an excellent pay and time off package.

LOCATION: The farm is situated in Thakeham, a picturesque village which has a primary school, and some facilities. The larger towns of Pulborough and Billingshurst are both about 6 miles from the farm. The area therefore has a huge range of facilities and schools within easy reach.
THE FARM: This farm is about 500 acres in total, with grass and maize. This is a family owned business, with the owners taking an active interest in the running of the farm.
THE UNIT: This is a fantastic set up, a green field site unit with a 24 X 24 parlour, it has auto dipping and flushing, activity meters, auto ID and shedding. The housing is deep sand cubicles with central feed passage.
THE DAIRY HERD :Calving mainly in the autumn/winter, this is a very well looked after herd, with yields in excess of 10,000 litres. The cows are pedigree Holsteins with top classifications. The herd is complete diet fed; the ration is maize and grass silage with additional straights.
ACCOMMODATION: There is an excellent 3-bedroom house available on the unit, free from rent, rates and Council Tax.
REMUNERATION: Subject to negotiation.
TIME OFF: 85 days per contract year.
SUMMARY : If you have a proven track record and a solid foundation of dairy farming knowledge and a spread of interest based on stockmanship and machinery ability with empathy for both. We would expect the successful applicant to be able and happy to milk if required although it would not be a part of the role within the team rota and responsibilities.
