We have a contract vacancy for an enthusiastic experienced herdsperson to work on a 340-cow herd of organic cows in north Dorset, with a full-time assistant.
The appointed person who will have a ‘can-do’ attitude with cows, is expected to be a team player, easy going and capable of working with an assistant, and hands-on farmer.
The farm is part of a mixed farming enterprise that is family managed and operated, running four organic dairy herds on Arla contracts. This herd is milked in a 20:40 Fullwood parlour with ACR’s, with all relatively new handling facilities and updated housing.
The herd is autumn block calving with extensive grazing to go alongside a conventional TMR feeding system. Cubicle housing is utilised with sawdust beds over mattresses.
A new 3-bedroom house is being built for the appointed candidate, alongside a competitive salary.
