Applications are invited from experienced herdspersons to take on the day-to-day running of a 300-cow robotically milked herd in Mid-Devon.
The successful candidate will take a leading hands-on role with the herd. Reporting to the farm owner, you will be responsible for the daily maintenance of the robots, herd health, feet, fertility including AI, calving and record keeping.
Effective management/working with an assistant herdsperson is required to ensure consistent high standards of animal welfare and performance.
Previous robotic experience is preferred and experience in a herdsperson’s role is a must.
The herd, a mixture of pedigree Jerseys and pedigree Holsteins and are housed in sand cubicles and milked through 4 De-Laval VMS V300 robots backed up with automatic scrapers, automatic footbaths, CowManager and a Lely Juno. A fifth robot is planned for future expansion. Replacements are reared on farm with calves fed via an automatic calf feeder (new calf shed under construction).
In return we can offer an excellent package, regular time off and a good 2-bed cottage initially though there is a 3-bed bungalow under construction.
