Due to retirement, an excellent opportunity has arisen to join a progressive, forward-thinking dairy business in Somerset.
Key Responsibilities:
• Managing cows through the robotic milking system
• Feeding and caring for calves
• Scraping and bedding youngstock accommodation
• Supporting general herd health and performance
Experience with AI and foot trimming would be advantageous, but not essential. Training can also be provided around the robotic system operation.
The successful applicant must:
• Be capable of working independently and using their initiative when required
• Be reliable, proactive and organised
• Work well as part of a small, close-knit team
• Maintain high standards of stockmanship and animal care
We milk 100 high yielding dairy cows through two Lely Astronaut robotic milking systems and pride ourselves on high standards of herd management and animal welfare.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to work closely alongside the owner on a day-to-day basis within a small, supportive family team.
What We Offer:
• Highly competitive hourly rate (based on approximately 40 - 45 hours per week)
• Every other weekend off
• Rent free accommodation: a newly refurbished 3-bedroom bungalow in a village location with central heating, double glazing, and a large garden
