We have a contract vacancy for an experienced Herdsperson on an 1100-acre family farm near Shaftesbury.
The appointed person will be required to cover most milkings to a very high standard, with plenty of assistance as there are always two people milking.
This herd of 600 crossbred cows, split equally between autumn and spring calvers, giving 6,800 litres with high components and are milked via a 30 x 60 swing over herringbone parlour with ACR’S and in parlour feeders.
Extensive grazing is practiced when possible with supplementary feed supplied. During winter months a full TMR is supplied while cows are housed in cubicle sheds with tractor scraping.
A very nice 4-bedroom house, on farm, is on offer along with a competitive salary. There is also an opportunity for extra days off as required.
