LKL Services Proudly Supports Farm Safety Week 2026

LKL Services is joining Farm Safety Week 2026, running from 20th to 24th July, in support of the Farm Safety Foundation's Yellow Wellies campaign. We're standing alongside others across the industry to raise awareness, share key safety messages, and encourage practical changes that prevent accidents and protect lives.

Why Farm Safety Week Matters?

Launching this year's campaign, Farm Safety Foundation manager Stephanie Berkeley said:

"Farm Safety Week is more than just a date in the farming calendar. It is a united movement across the UK and Ireland, bringing together over 500 farming organisations with a shared aim: to make our farms safer places to live and work.

Agriculture is often described as 'the most dangerous industry', but more accurately, it has the poorest safety record, with a rate of fatal injury significantly higher than any other sector. This distinction matters. It moves us away from the idea of unavoidable danger and towards something we can change: behaviours, culture and everyday working practices.

Lasting change will not come through awareness alone. It depends on a collective willingness to take responsibility, to look out for one another, and to approach everyday tasks with a renewed commitment to doing things more safely.

Preventing death and injury on our farms is not the responsibility of a few, but of all of us. As employers, we must ensure the working environment is safe and healthy. As workers, we must take responsibility for working safely, protecting ourselves and others. As an industry, we must work together to improve our persistently poor safety record."

LKL's Commitment

At LKL, we support the Farm Safety Foundation's work in raising the profile of farm safety, not just for one week a year, but every day. Farm safety can't be confined to a single awareness week; it needs to be a year-round commitment, embedded into every farming business and every team.

Safety must be our first thought, not an afterthought. Every decision made on the farm affects not just our own wellbeing, but that of our families, colleagues, and communities. By speaking up, challenging unsafe practices, and leading by example, we can build a safer farming culture where everyone gets home safe at the end of the day.

Take 5 to Stay Alive

One simple change you can make today: remind your team to pause and assess risks before starting a task, using the NFU's "Take 5 to Stay Alive" mantra.

  • Pause - Take a moment before you begin.
  • Spot the hazards - Identify risks and unsafe conditions.
  • Check yourself and others - Fatigue, stress, and distractions can be as dangerous as faulty equipment.
  • Take action - Use the correct PPE, make the area safe, and ask for help if needed.

Once you've worked through these steps and are confident you have the right training, skills, and equipment, you can proceed. Avoid lone working where possible, and always let your team know what you're doing and where you are on site.

Staying Visible on The Farm

This month, our Regional Managers are focusing on visibility around the farm, particularly in yards and barns where vehicles are moving. They're handing out LKL hi-vis vests during farm visits, so get in touch with your Regional Manager if you'd like some.
