HSE has yet to report the accident statistics for the last 12 months  - but sadly the number of fatalities reported on farm are expected to be almost double that of last year.

Did you know it's Farm Safety Week (20th-24th July)? The annual campaign run by Farm Safety Partnership encourages farmers to raise the profile of safety during this week and see what safety improvements they can make on farm.

Arla Foods has revealed that it went to significant lengths to ensure its milk collection continued throughout the coronavirus outbreak. The dairy giant took the unusual decision to train dairy farmers in the safe transportation of milk as a contingency plan in case a significant percentage of their usual drivers went off sick with covid-19. 

The government’s farming minister, Victoria Prentis, has confirmed applications for a new dairy response fund will open on Thursday 18th June.

At the beginning of 2020, the team here at LKL decided to enter the annual RoSPA Health & Safety Awards to gauge a measure of our progress in health and safety. In April, we learnt that we had been awarded a prestigious RoSPA Silver Achievement Award. 

The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF) has announced that the annual Gold Cup open day will not be going ahead in July due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the event – which draws over a thousand visitors – will take place in Spring 2021.
